Side Table
Danish furniture designer
Børge Mogensen designed the Deck Chair Series in the late 1960s as a response
to his personal need for functional and comfortable outdoor furniture that
occupied the minimum of space. Practical and flexible and with carefully
crafted details, the BM5868 Side Table in untreated, FSC™-certified teak
profiles a simple design based on wooden slats. The sturdy, yet lightweight
frame makes it easy to move around, and the foldable design requires the
minimum of storage space – making it ideal for spontaneous gatherings when the
sun comes out.

Børge Mogensen (1914 – 1972) is known as one of the great Danish designers of the twentieth century for his quality furniture and strong, minimalist designs. Characterised by simple, solid lines and durable construction, his clean aesthetics and precise proportions embody Danish modernism. Having initially trained as a cabinet-maker before studying furniture design at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, Børge Mogensen later studied architecture at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He later became design director at the Danish Co-Operative Society, FDB, where he focused on creating well-designed, functional furniture that could be industrially produced for the general public. HAY has recreated Børge Mogensen’s timeless J41 and J42 chairs, which were part of the J-Series he designed during his time at FBD. |
